Most conversations about feeding dogs focus on what goes into the dog - ingredients, nutrients, portion sizes and diet type.

What does the dog physically get to do with the food?

BoneZone® provides a stable structure against which an appropriate food or chew can be worked. Instead of the item simply sitting loose in a bowl, on the floor or in the yard, the dog can grip, pull, tear, strip, gnaw, chew and manipulate it against controlled resistance.

That is the basis of Structural Feeding™.

BoneZone® does not prescribe what your dog should eat. It provides another way to present and manage appropriate foods and chews.

1. Provides the missing counterforce

When a dog pulls at a substantial food item, something has to resist that force.

Loose food often gets pinned beneath paws, pushed against the ground or furniture, or carried somewhere the dog can obtain leverage.

BoneZone® provides that resistance deliberately.

The secured item pushes back against the dog's effort, creating a stable physical interaction instead of leaving the dog to create its own anchor point.

2. Preserves more of the physical act of feeding

Modern food can be exceptionally efficient to serve and consume.

But the easier food becomes to portion, soften, mince or place in a bowl, the less physical manipulation may be required from the dog.

Chewing is a normal part of canine behaviour and is increasingly recognised in contemporary welfare research as having physical and behavioural significance.

BoneZone® creates a defined place where an appropriate food or chew can be worked rather than simply consumed immediately or carried elsewhere.

For suitable dogs and suitable items, this can create a longer, more interactive feeding or chewing session and provide another form of feeding enrichment alongside bowls, puzzles, training and other enrichment methods.

6. Less pawing can mean a cleaner dog

Dogs commonly use their paws and forelegs to restrain loose chews and substantial food items.

That can transfer fats, proteins, moisture and food residue onto paws, legs - and eventually floors, furniture and people.

By providing external restraint, BoneZone® can reduce the dog's need to use its own body as the primary holding device.

The result can be less direct contact between the dog's front legs and the food, depending on the item and feeding position.

7. Gives owners greater supervision and removal control

A food item that remains in one known location is easier to observe than one being carried around the property.

Dogs do not all eat the same way.

The objective is not one fixed position for every animal.
